Knowing the types of Airbags in the Car

The use of airbags
Usually occurs during road accidents, when two cars collide or when they collide with an obstacle, the car stops quickly and almost instantly. But the passengers, who are affected by the force of impact from hitting the car, are thrown forward.
If they use a seat belt, the possibility of damage is almost limited to their forehead, chin and neck. This damage is usually caused by the collision of the passenger with the front of the dashboard and the driver with the steering wheel.
In these cases, the airbag shows off its efficiency and timely opening directs the impact to the parts of the body that are more resistant and reduces the pressure on the back and forehead, which are more sensitive.
Of course, this is only the performance of the simplest type of airbags installed for the driver and front passenger.
The various airbags that exist in some more equipped and updated cars today, repel the tension, pressure and actually the force caused by other accidents to a great extent and prevent serious injury to the passenger and the driver. Like accidents in which the sides of the car are hit.
Therefore, airbags are placed in all kinds of accidents as a safe protection between the passenger and the driver and the hard parts of the car such as windows, steering wheel, dashboard, etc. limits. In this article, we at act group describe the types of airbags in cars.
Types of airbags
Front passenger airbag (Driver and Passenger)
This type of airbag is the simplest and the first type of airbag used in the automotive industry. Of course, it is considered the most important because the probability of car accidents from the front is higher and the passengers in the front row are more vulnerable to damage.
The airbag on the student’s side is larger because the student’s side, due to the lack of a steering wheel, requires a larger volume of the airbag to limit the forward movement of the student’s head.
Side airbag
This type the airbag is placed on the sides of the car and between the door and the passengers. In accidents that happen from the side of the car, these airbags absorb the force of the accident as a mediator between the passengers and the sides of the car room.
Their height is usually below the window, but if curtain airbags are not used in the car, this height may be higher to protect the head and neck of the passengers from hitting the glass.
Curtain airbag
As its name suggests, this type of airbag covers the surface of the car’s side windows like a curtain and has two important duties:
- Prevents throwing pieces of broken glass from car windows to the passengers.
- In side accidents, it limits the movement of the head and neck of the passengers and prevents the passenger’s head from hitting the pillars of the car.
Knee airbag
One of the most vulnerable parts of the human body, which is very close to the dashboard, is the passenger’s knee.
This type of airbag, which is intended for the front row passengers, covers the legs and knees of the driver and the front passenger and prevents their possible injury in this area.
Middle airbag
This type of airbag, which is less common and rarely used in normal cars, opens between the driver and the front passenger and prevents them from colliding with each other at certain angles of an accident.
Pedestrian airbag
This airbag does not have the duty of protecting the passengers, but it has the duty of protecting the pedestrians, motorcyclists and cyclists who collide with the car and minimize the damage caused by the collision.
Seat belt airbag
This airbag model is used to prevent seat belt injuries on the body of passengers when it is stretched.
In fact, in this type of airbag, the seat belt is equipped with an air bag.
